We almost put a tractor in the pond today!

I mentioned yesterday that one boat is missing in one of the Louisiana lakes where we fish. We almost lost a larger boat in a different Louisiana lake further north. Rain is this area overwhelmed the bilge pump. The bilge pump battery quit working once it was covered in water. Clint, the owner of this lake, rescued our boat by pulling it out of the lake with his tractor. Today, we used Clint’s tractor to push the boat back to the edge of the pond. This boat is extremely heavy and has fins on the bottom. Clint showed up in time to lift the boat up and get it back in the water. Unfortunately, the tractor moved forward to the water’s edge as the chains were removed. Luckily, the tractor’s forward motion was halted just in time. There were a few tense moments as Clint prepared to back up. Luckily, the ground held when Clint put the tractor in reverse. When all was done, the boat was back in the lake and the tractor was high and dry on the land.

On our way to the North Louisiana lake, we crossed the Mighty Mississippi River. Although the water has been extremely low in the Mississippi for the past few months, the water is finally getting higher. Note the number of barges pushed by each tug boat in the pictures below.
