My sons gave me a Jolly Ball for the goats as one of my birthday gifts. The Jolly Ball was originally designed for horses and this ball smells like bubble gum. Goat owners have said that the goats also enjoy this ball. We are headed to the farm to check on Peanut and to give Peanut her medication, so we will take the time to hang the Jolly Ball for all of the goats.

Bruce found a good limb in the fig tree on which to hang the Jolly Ball. We put corn under the ball to encourage the goats to investigate. It didn’t take long for Fool to start playing. Watch the video below as Fool plays with the new Jolly Ball.
We have ten trail cameras on the 150 acre farm in order to capture pictures and videos of the wildlife. Bruce changes out the cards on these cameras once or twice a week. It takes about a hour to pick up all of the cards, and another hour to review all of the cards on the computer. Three of the cameras are on large fields that were planted as deer plots in October. Note that all of these large fields look like they have been mowed with a precision mowing machine. Look at the exclusion devices to see what these fields should look like without mowing. The mowing machines are pretty precise, but they are of the red-blooded four-legged variety instead of actual lawn mowers. The deer have been very thorough in the mowing of these fields.
Below: We finally found the time to move the new rain gauge away from the draining roof of the farm house. There is a metal pole further away from the roof, so zip ties were used to anchor the rain gauge to that metal pole. Hopefully, we will still be able to read the gauge from the inside of the farm house. A major rain is expected this week, so we will be able to compare the new gauge with the old gauge.
