In managing a bass pond, it is necessary to know what type of fish are present, as well as the size and weight of these fish. This process does not count the actual fish, but rather a sample of the fish are measured and weighed. The sampling information is used to estimate the numbers, species, and weight of the fish population. Scott from Southeastern Pond Management used a special boat (rigged with an electrical device) to shock and net a sample population of fish. The fish were measured, weighed, and all fish over 14 inches were released. As you can see from the picture below, Tanner came to see the weighting of the fish in his grandfather’s pond.
A month ago, we found that pumpkins and goats do not mix. Now, we know that watermelon and goats do not mix either. The goats left the watermelon patch alone for a full five weeks. The goats decided to raid the patch just as the watermelons were a few weeks from harvesting . Look at the damage the goats did to the vines, leaves, and melons. Guess this is the last watermelon patch in the goat yard.
Below: Fishing on this lake in Faraday, LA was fruitless this morning. It was only a 1 fish day on the Solunar Tables, and we were fishing after the major period. We did not expect much, but we did not Even get one bite. However, the lake was beautiful on this very peaceful morning, and we enjoyed the trip. Look at the slideshow below. Note the bark missing on the bottom of some of the cypress trees in slides 7 and 8. We are not sure what animal would have done this. If you have an idea, we are open to your suggestions.
When a large group of birds set up housekeeping in a tree or trees that are close together, it is called a Roost. We saw birds flying in and out of these trees, but were unable to get a good video because the birds were so small. Listen to the noise that these birds are making in this roost.
