Below are pictures of Golden Rod. Although this plant is not necessarily a favorite of people with allergies, it is a blessing for the bees this year. Due to the drought, the bees are having a very hard time surviving. Just as we had to feed the bees to get them off of the hummingbird feeders, the bee-keepers have had to feed their bees. One area bee-keeper told us he was using 25 pounds of sugar a day. Unfortunately, even with all the efforts, many bees were lost this summer. The two rains a few weeks ago caused the golden rod to sprout and grow. This plant is a blessing for the bees and may be what saves many of the bees that are left after a terribly dry summer.

Science Tip: UNPLUG chargers for all your devices or TURN OFF electrical bar when not in use. There is a current flowing through these chargers when they are connected to an electrical outlet. Below is a picture of the hole in the carpet and the charger that was plugged in but not in use. All chargers should be disconnected from the electrical outlet when not being used to charge a device.
