Because of the drought, the grass has not grown and has stayed very short since our last mowing. Goats eat the short grass and come in contact with parasites that cause problems. April is ill and parasites are the problem. Dr. Ann gave her three injections (vitamin B, vitamin K, and ivermectin) as well as Panicur to try to help her. We also gave her “red cell” to fight her anemia. All the goats will be getting Panicur for five days and then the goats will be moved to a new pasture. They will stay in the new pasture for 90 days in hopes that the life cycle of the parasites runs its course. We will then start rotating the goats to a new pasture every 90 days. Hopefully, this will help with the parasite problem.

April was still alive today. Dr. Ann gave her Karo Syrup with Pedialyte. (One ounce of Pedialyte with 1 teaspoon of Karo syrup three times a day. We are still giving her 1 cc of “Red Cell” per day. Trying hard to save April, but only time will tell.
