Wasp, Swing, kayak, trolling motor training, goats, and slip n’slide

The picture below is a Velvet Ant which is NOT an ant at all. It is a female wasp in the order Hymenoptera. The female has no wings and has a very powerful sting. The male does have wings. This is the second one we have seen on the ground in the past week. They move very quickly.

Started Monday morning with fishing at 7 am. Everyone caught at least one!

Grandparent’s camp has started. Calder, Beckett, Oryne and Ike are enjoying giving grandad a workout.

Grandad is giving “trolling motor” lessons while the rest of the grandchildren are practicing kayaking.

Gallery below: Pictures 1 and 2 are our avocados. We are obviously not keeping these plants happy. Picture 3 shows flowers on the watermelon and 4 shows our FIRST watermelon (about 1/2 inch in total). Picture 5 shows the grandchildren in front of the scarecrow (whose face has finally worn off) and out corn crop. Pictures 6 and 7 are our 2 giant pumpkins that are now 1.5 to 2X the size of a basketball. We are trying to figure out how to weight these pumpkins while we can still lift them. Any suggestions?

Nothing beats a slip n’slide to conquer the heat.

The goats are thrilled to see the grandchildren. Well, maybe the goats thrilled to see the food the grandchildren have.

Art helps pass the hottest part of the day.

Just a few more pictures of the start of grandparent’s camp with the cousins.
