Poor Miracle, blackberries, pumpkins, and bluebirds.

We left the farm last Sunday and Bruce returned on Wednesday morning. When Bruce went to feed the goats, he only counted four goats. Miracle was missing. After a brief search, Bruce found that Miracle was guilty of thinking that “the grass is greener on the other side” and she was entangled in the fence. We do not know how long she had been there, but luckily, she was in the shade.

From the bear spot around Miracle’s feet, it was obvious that Miracle had been in the fence for some time. Bruce swears that Miracle said “thank you” when he clipped the wires to the fence. Miracle doesn’t seem ‘too worse for the trauma’ and Miracle is now eating and running around like normal.

The berries just keep coming. Bruce picked 10 cups of blackberries on Wednesday and we picked another 5 cups of blackberries on Thursday. The raspberries are just about gone, but we see flowers on the vines, so maybe we will get another summer crop.

The Connecticut Pumpkins are doing great and require very little care. The large amount of rain last week was all the pumpkin vines needed to get a jump on growing. This week, we will have to water because there is no rain in the forecast. We will water these pumpkins this weekend to make sure they keep growing.

Below: We discovered four more bluebirds in one of the houses. These birds are very close to fledging.
