Fruitful Harvest!
We were able to harvest blackberries (seedless and thornless), raspberries, blueberries, and string beans. All will be consumed this weekend.
Below: Slide (1-2) Our corn plants have tasseled which means corn is on the way. These plants were “left over” and are not in the enclosure to prevent animals from eating. (3-5) The pumpkins are forming on the vines, (6-8) corn inside the enclosure is doing better than the corn outside the enclosure (9 )the canteloupe have both flowers and the first formations of canteloupe, (10) Honeydew is flowering, (11) Atlantic Giant pumpkins are started (12) some raspberries were harvested (13-15) the bush beans will be on the dinner table tonight (16) the watermelon vine is finally growing.
Below: A box turtle appeared in the upper garden a few weeks ago. We cannot find a way through or under the fence to determine how it entered. Preston said that these turtles are territorial and will return if we remove it, so we have left it in the garden. The turtle is obviously contented with the food and water source and we find it in different areas each time we visit this garden.
