The fishing trip was at the same pond in North Louisiana as the unbelievable fishing trip last week. Craig and Bruce caught eight bass with the three largest weighting 3, 3.5, and 3.6 pounds. All bass were caught on the same bait used a few days ago (that was the bait taken by the alligator). Bass Pro had five of these magic baits (Hammerhead Chatter bait- crawfish color) and these fisherman bought all five the day after the last fishing trip.

Below: This is actually called Hairy Buttercup. Hairy Buttercup is not very tall (about 12 inches tall) and is an invasive plant. It is not editable. The original pictures of this plant were identified by the ‘plant identifier’ as Rapeseed. However, when we obtained closer pictures of this plant, it was identified as Hairy Buttercup. (Rapeseed is usually grown as livestock fodder or to produce oil. Rapeseed grows about three feet tall and also grows as a weed in disturbed areas. Rapeseed was referenced in writings in 1620 in Sweden, and arrived in England by 1750. It was reported in North America in the early 1800’s). Rapeseed is considered an herb whereas hairy buttercup is poisonous if eaten.

Below: We tilled the garden and planted the corn. The bird netting is in place because the crows will harvest every kernel if it is not covered. (We learned that the hard way!
