We harvested carrots and saved the green tops for the goats. These carrots were Napoli carrots which are supposed to be prolific and sweet in 45 days. These carrots also get sweeter if there is cold weather toward the end of their growth. Wyatt and Bruce cleaned the carrots and shredded them for carrot cake. Brenda mixed the ingredients. After baking we set the cake layers out to cool. Only one problem: No one told the guys that the cake was not completed. We returned to the project to find 2.5 layers of cake instead of three layers. We have to concede that the purpose of this cake was for enjoyment, so we iced 2.5 layers of cake instead of three. The recipe used was not our favorite. We will try again with homegrown carrots and the OLD recipe for carrot cake. We will publish the OLD recipe shortly. From the pictures below, you can tell that the icing became an “after thought”.
Goats are herd animals. Unfortunately, goats are not the brightest animal in the world. If one goat decides the grass is greener elsewhere, the rest of the goats will leave a full feed trough to follow the herd to an empty feed trough. This clip is a combination of a two feedings to illustrate the point.
