Pumpkin harvest, pumpkin rescue, bluebirds, and fishing.

Bruce, Craig, and Brenda harvested this pumpkin(below). They knew it was time because the little vine by the main stem was turning brown. This pumpkin weighted 55 pounds. Not bad for our first large pumpkin.

Watch the video below. NOTE the brown piece of vine that tells you it is time to harvest.

We forgot about gravity when we planted these pumpkin plants on the hill. Gravity won, and this pumpkin broke loose because of its weight (25 pounds) and rolled down the hill. Craig and Bruce had to rescue this pumpkin from the bottom of the hill. Even at 25 pounds, this pumpkin is not ripe, so it will go to a sunny spot until it ripens.

Below: Our bluebirds are one day older and they are still very sound sleepers. The entire nest is about 4 inches wide. The baby birds are about 2 inches long. Both mom and dad bluebirds are caring for the baby birds.

Not sure who hooked this bass (below), but it looks like it is a nice one! This pond is by Vicksburg, Mississippi. Lee, Ella Clare and Camilla are in the picture, but the fish seems to be on someone else’s line!

English Tip of the Day: Two, Too, and To. “Two” is the number 2. “Too” means 1. also or in addition or 2. in excess. The word “to” is used when going or giving. For example: The ‘two’ girls went ‘to’ the party. The third girl went ‘too’ and she drank ‘too’ much alcohol. Please give the gift ‘to’ her. Just remember the number has a “w” and the “too” for excess has an extra “o”.
