Pumpkins, Souffle, and Pumpkin Seeds

Remember the pumpkin that was caught in the fence? It was the smaller variety that was an Early Prince Hybrid. We harvested it early and took it to Jackie and Bobby. Jackie put it in the sunlight to ripen.

After it ripened, it was time to cut it open, remove the seeds, and bake. Jackie did all the work.

After the pumpkin baked, Jackie then made a Soufflé. Guess we need her recipe.

From Jackie: Roast pumpkin. Scoop from rind. Purée n processor with eggs milk olive oil (you would probably prefer butter) cinnamon cumin brown sugar. Bake @ 350 for 45 minutes. Bon apetite😋(You can find many other pumpkin recipes on the internet. Pumpkin bread is also a favorite.)

Jackie also roasted the pumpkin seeds. The seeds were washed, drained, and dried. (Some people remove all of the pumpkin strings and some people are not quite that meticulous.) Oil and salt were added and the seeds were roasted. Jackie used a skillet to roast her pumpkin seeds. (Usually about 1 teaspoon of oil per cup of seeds). You may also add hot seasonings like Tony’s Chachery Seasoning or cinnamon and ginger depending on your preferences.

Now, all we need is a taste test! Jackie and Bobby said they liked the soufflé favor- tasted “like pumpkin”. Haven’t heard about the seeds yet.

English Tip of the DAY: “you know, like

I just listened to a Yale professor making a statement about the English Language. She was extremely knowledgeable about foreign languages and the origin of the words she used. However, she punctuated every sentence with “YOU KNOW”. I listened to this professor in order to hear her views and I didn’t “KNOW” her views before listening. Therefore, “you know” in every sentence was inappropriate. The other overused word is “LIKE”. Unfortunately, many people string the two together- “YOU KNOW, LIKE”. If I had a dime for every child, teen, teacher, and adult I heard say “YOU KNOW, LIKE”, I could purchase a house with dimes. Remove “you know” and “like” from every sentence and your conversations with others will definitely improve. The person listening to you will also comprehend your message much faster.
