Birds, Alligators, and Bass at the Louisiana Pond

5.2 pound bass caught on 5-21-23 at 8 am- bass was released. Below are two pictures of “lost” artificial baits and hooks which fishermen left behind in the trees.

There were two alligators in the pond today, which is not uncommon. This is a video of the smaller alligator.
This is the Blue Heron who visited the pond this morning. The North American red-winged blackbird is the bird at the very end of the video.
The Red-winged Blackbird is often seen this time of year. The males have a distinctive patch of red on the ring.
Great White Egret or Heron (a species of Herons) is distinguished by its yellow bill and black legs.

The Limpkin is below.

Watch the Limpkin catch its breakfast. Limpkins are active during the day, They also sometimes eat during the night. The Limpkin likes freshwater ponds.
