The Bluebirds have made a nest

We usually find 3 to 4 eggs in the nest of the bluebirds, but from eggs to fledging is a difficult process. Over the years, we rarely see all four eggs hatch and go all the way to fledging.

When checking the Bluebird nest, you should always knock first. If the female is on the nest, she will leave when you knock. If you just open the door and startle her, she may damage the eggs or the baby birds in her panic. Our houses have an extra nail in the door to keep the raccoons and other predators out.

This is the bluebird house closest to the farm house. We have 13 bluebird houses in all.
