The basil has grown into healthy plants and should provide fresh basil for the summer. Next week we will harvest the basil, mix it with pine nuts and oil and make some pesto. The recipe will be given when we make the pesto.

The thyme has formed a sizable bush. Thyme is an herb that originated in the Mediterranean area. It does not require much water and is usually harvested in the summer. To harvest, you trim about 5 inches off the ends. Fresh thyme may be stored in the refrigerator or you can hang the sprigs in a dark area to dry. This plant is smaller than it looks. It is about 12 inches across and 10 inches tall.

The Rosemary bush is now about three feet tall and three feet wide. We trimmed it back and stuck some of the trimmings in the ground. One did root, so we will now have two Rosemary bushes.
