Geraniums come in a variety of colors and are wonderful for hot summers. They tolerate the heat and the dry weather well. My first introduction to this hardy plant was when my mother-in-law gave me a bunch of geranium stems and said “stick them in the ground”. I followed her instructions and the stems started blooming. The geraniums above were purchased at Home Depot.

After the flower finishes blooming and begins to dry, you should break it off and drop it in the soil. You will continue to see blooms for the entire summer.
Lantana are very hardy summer flowers that tolerate the sun well. These plants appeared to have been killed by the freeze, but when we transplanted them, they all sprouted from the rootball. Very little attention is required except they do like some water if you have not received any rain in a week or two.
Lantana come in different colors and the flowers look like small bouquets.
