The watermelon seeds planted 1 week ago have sprouted. The new pumpkin seeds planted last weekend are also up.

Flip through the slideshow above. Can you tell the difference between watermelon and pumpkin at this stage? Hint-first 5 pictures are pumpkin and second 5 pictures are watermelon.

Look closely and you will notice that pumpkin plants have rounded, slightly wider leaves, while the watermelon leaves are more pointed and a little thinner. Don’t worry if you do not see a difference. We will watch both develop and see more differences in the future as the plants grow larger.
