If you have been following this blog, you have seen us stock this pond with fat-head minnows, several types of brim, and a few bass. Well, in order to make sure all the fish are happy in this pond, we have to feed the brim. When the weather is just right, the brim get very active when the fish feeder goes off. Although people say “the water is boiling”, that is just an expression. You are watching the brim come up to the top of the water, snatch a piece of floating fish food, and turn to swim away. The motion of grabbing the food and turning causes the splashing in the water, but the water is not hot and there is no mysterious thing lurking under the water. What you see is just lots of small fish (about 5 inches long) enjoying a meal and making noise.
