A very large male visited the trap all day today. It ate the donuts, laid outside the cage, and even took a nap in the cage. But since Anthony (the Wildlife and Fisheries guy) is 3 hours away, it was too hot to close the door on the bear during the heat of the day.

Because the male bear ate all of the donuts, Bruce and I went to the store in Woodville to purchase more donuts. Andrew called us to tell us when the coast was clear, and we walked the last 100 yards to the trap and left 6 more donuts. Bruce said “if we see a bear, you just have to run slower than I do.” I laughed because Bruce was the one holding all the donuts!
Around 7:15 tonight, we received the following text from Anthony. The bear had returned for our donuts and Anthony closed the door to the trap. The crew from Wildlife and Fisheries will be here at 8am to tranquilize, weigh, draw blood, collar, and then release our big friend. We will post the pictures.
