Have you heard of the SUPER BLUE MOON? Also, Bees

Science TIP: Below are pictures of the Super Blue Moon from last night. This is the last Super Blue Moon until 2037. Unfortunately, the phone camera could not focus on the bright light without blurring. Chanel 5 sums up what makes this moon a SUPER BLUE MOON.

Below: The goats needed medication for five days straight. Because we do not live at the farm, we made a Monday afternoon dash for the 4th day and a 5am goat medication dosage for the 5th day. We headed back to Baton Rouge as the sun was rising. The slideshow below is the sunrise as we returned to Baton Rouge.

Below: We mixed the stronger sugar solution to get the bees off of the hummingbird feeders. We didn’t realize how desperate the bees were for food. Watch the clip below and listen to the sound of the bees and read the about this sound below.

Science TIP: The buzzing comes from the rapid beating of their wings. In addition, bumble bees can make a special type of “buzz”. This special buzz is caused by vibrating flight muscles within the bee’s thorax. This vibration is used in the pollination of certain flowers. These specific flowers (like tomatoes and blueberries) release their pollen only when they are touched by a specific vibration frequency. This phenomenon has several names which are buzz pollination, sonication, and floral vibration.
