The Geiers are still enjoying the Lake in Alabama. Teleworking adults definitely has its advantages for the younger generation.

Look at our precious bluebirds that hatched a few days ago. If you notice, the 4th egg never hatched. The three bluebirds still have not opened their eyes, and you can see the ear slit on the bluebird towards the front. No real feathers are present yet, but that will happen in the next week.

The big pumpkin is still increasing in size, and we are finding lots of new pumpkins. Unfortunately, the pumpkins continue to prune themselves. Notice the smaller pumpkins in the slideshow below have shriveled or have molded. We had to put up a temporary fence to keep the goats off the pumpkins leaves. The pumpkin leaves on the large pumpkin on hill are totally gone, but there is hope that some new leaves will appear soon.

We have had a very poor crop of figs this year. First the trees bloomed early and the freeze killed all of the leaves. Now the crop of figs is small and there are no ripe figs. It could be that the birds and deer are eating the ripe figs and we need to net the fig trees.

The watermelon is still growing. Now there are several smaller watermelons on this vine. The top picture is from July 11th and the slideshow is from today, July 12th. Look at the change after one day. We will add a bird net this weekend in hopes of keeping the watermelon for our use and not to feed the animals.

This is the Eastern Kingbird which is a species of Tyrant flycatchers. It is a migratory bird and eatsects (insectivorous). We really like birds that like to eat insects!

These hummingbirds await their turn on the feeder by perching on the fence line.
