The pumpkin seeds have sprouted and need to be moved further apart. We didn’t expect every seed to sprout, but that is a good problem to have. Some of these seeds will be transplanted to give the vines a better chance to grow.
Some of these seeds are for normal size pumpkins and some are for extra large pumpkins. We will keep you posted as they grow.
CORN and Garlic
Flip through the pictures of the garden. The corn has sprouted and the garlic is still not ready to harvest. Some of the corn plants were moved to give better spacing between the stalks of corn. You will also see the cilantro is still around the edge of the garden, but is going to seed. A bird net was added to the top of the garden because we learned last year that the blackbirds will eat every kernel of corn that we planted. We don’t think the birds will bother the young corn stalks, but the net will stay in place until harvest just in case.
